Say Good-bye to Dental Anxiety With Sedation Dentistry
Sedation dentistry allows you to relax while getting the dental care you need. Whether you experience anxiety at the thought of a visit to the dentist or have complicated procedures scheduled, we can provide a level of sedation that will make your visit with us comfortable before, during, and after.
Three Types of Sedation
At Benca & Dean dentistry we offer types of sedation that offer 3 levels of comforts:
- Inhalation Sedation
Nitrous oxide or “laughing gas”. As the most popular form of sedation in dentistry, inhalation sedation utilizes nitrous oxide and oxygen to make you more relaxed during your dental appointment. - Oral Conscious Sedation
An anti-anxiety medication taken before the appointment. This type of sedation will cause relaxation while still remaining conscious and responsive. The patient is prescribed an anti-anxiety medication (typically Valum or Halcion) to be taken an hour prior to the appointment. - Intraveneous Sedation
For this type of sedation the patient receives anxiety-reducing and pain-reducing medications through an IV that is Administered and monitored by a certified dental anesthesiologist. Patients typically do not remember the dental appointment and fell that they have been asleep through the treatment. This type of sedation is ideal for minimizing anxiety, pain, and memory associated with the dental appointment.
