Metal-Free Fillings

Tooth-colored Composite Fillings are more attractive, stronger, safer and a more enduring dental solution to metal fillings. Many of the patients of Renton dentist, Dr. Benca, are choosing metal-free fillings, not only for the way they blend beautifully with their own natural teeth, but also for health reasons.
Amalgams or metal fillings expand with heat and contract with cold. This movement weakens the tooth wall, leading to fractures and allowing bacteria to enter, causing dental disease. Composite materials are not affected by hot or cold and are very durable; being able to hold up under the wear and tear of daily use.
Composite or metal-free fillings are a more conservative option. This is because our dentist, Dr. Benca, needs to remove less healthy tooth enamel to prepare for them than for metal fillings. Because the composite material is bonded to the surface of the tooth, metal- free fillings are extremely strong and durable and able to strengthen a weak tooth; increasing its usefulness and longevity.
Once applied to the teeth layer by layer, the composite material is then cured, or hardened. A highly-trained dentist in jaw joint and bite alignment, Dr. Benca gives extra special attention to maintaining the correct bite. Each layer is formed to ensure the comfort and proper function of your teeth, and to reduce the possibility of any dental sensitivity.
Once the composite is properly applied by our experienced dentist and then hardened, it is finished with a sealant or finishing coat. This gives them a healthy, beautiful, natural shine. This glossy sealant also protects against any staining or leakage, which will ensure the continued beauty and function of your dental restorations for many years.
Metal-free fillings conservatively restore the strength of your teeth and the beauty of your smile; we would love to show you how!
