When Is a Bridge the Right Option?

A bridge is a custom-made prosthetic appliance that is used by a dentist to bridge the gap caused by missing teeth. If the teeth on each side of the gap (called abutment teeth) already have a crown, than a good option would be a standard bridge; using the two crowned teeth for support and filling in the gap between with the bridge.

If the abutment teeth are not crowned but are in good enough condition to support a crown then the procedure would include applying crowns to the two abutment teeth to provide support for a bridge. On the other hand, if the abutment teeth are in perfect condition than implants might be a better option, allowing careful dentist Dr. Benca to be less invasive to surrounding teeth.
